When most people think about a vacation on Hilton Head Island, they think about spending a day on a golf course, riding a bike on one of the many trails, shopping, or playing in the ocean. If those aren’t your style and you’re looking for more unusual things to do, we’ve got a few options for you to choose from.

Helicopter Tours

If you’ve ever wondered what a bird’s eye view of Hilton Head looks like, check out Hilton Head Helicopter Tours. They offer a wide range of tours that can take you all over the island to see the Harbour Town Lighthouse, South Beach Marina, Broad Creek Marshlands, and more.

Escape Room

If you get stuck inside on a rainy day, you can try your hand at the Hilton Head Escape Room. You can choose from different themed escape rooms, including a Pirate ship where you have to break the curse and discover hidden treasure!

Become a Pirate

Here’s your chance to give your kids the experience of a lifetime. At Pirates of Hilton Head, they’ll learn how to talk like a pirate on this fun, interactive cruise, where they’ll also get face painting, a pirate tattoo, and pirate garb before engaging in an exciting water cannon fight with Stinky Pete! They only operate from May through mid-September, so be sure to keep this on your list of unusual things to do for next year’s vacation!

Zipline Canopy Tour

Another fun way to see Hilton Head from high above the treetops would be by sailing through those treetops on a zipline! At My Adventure Hilton Head, there are seven different ziplines with varying difficulty levels to choose from. They offer the highest views of the island, views of Broad Creek, a swinging sky bridge, a spiral staircase in the trees, and a 900ft long race at the end for a finale.

Meet a Mermaid

A Mermaid Encounter would be magical for the mermaid-loving little girl in your family! They’ll get a bubble wand for a bubble battle onboard a covered boat, along with temporary tattoos and magic name tags that will grow wildflowers when planted. Since the mermaids get chilly in the cooler months, they only operate from May through mid-September, so be sure to plan for next year’s vacation!

Hilton Head Island is a magical place filled with so many fun things for the whole family to enjoy. You’ll be able to please the pirates, mermaids, and thrill seekers in your brood on your next vacation with any of these fun and unusual things to do in Hilton Head.
